As a Victorian gentlemen John Abamire represents the classical idea that every man aspired to be. He is around the age of 30, so the death of his wife came as a shock, so now, after dismissing all of his workers and servants, lives alone in a large mansion.
The Bondesc suave gentlemen that is all the women wanted to be with. This was an indicative upper class man of the time, rich and unsociable. He is a stereotype on many levels. He is the classical idea of a Victorian, he is a true upperclass snob and always wanting to be the dominant male figure.
My target audience understand, but do not identify with this character at first. This is intentional. The idea that at first John is a distant character and then he becomes more like one of the audience. So finally by the end the audience identify with him as one of their own.
Interesting. To make this a little more detailed, comment on how you have constructed this representation:
ReplyDelete1.age
2.clothing
3.accent
4.home
5.add pictures from elsewhere of the social type you have created, side by side
What about the other figure?
What about the notable absences: invisible servants?
